Protein engineering by rational design and directed evolution

1) Rational design - including manual, bioinformatic and computational techniques for protein modification and de novo design.
2) Directed evolution - covering different systems for generating genetic diversity, selection and screening systems, and linking phenotype to genotype.
Finally some hybrid techniques that combine the two approaches are briefly explained.
