<div>A 2-hour lecture summarising key principles, methods and applications of protein engineering techniques. Illustrated with examples from medicine, agriculture, research, bioenergy, and industry. The material is split into two main sections.</div><div><div><br></div><div>1) Rational design - including manual, bioinformatic and computational techniques for protein modification and de novo design.</div><div>2) Directed evolution - covering different systems for generating genetic diversity, selection and screening systems, and linking phenotype to genotype.</div><div><br></div><div>Finally some hybrid techniques that combine the two approaches are briefly explained.</div></div><div><br></div><div>Feel free to reuse any of the slides. All material is referenced at the bottom each slide and notes are provided for most slides with additional info.</div>
